A bit long winded https://www.psychologytoday.com/articles/200307/what-is-solitude. I've never been lonely on a trip but a few gregarious friends seem to be more susceptible to it in daily life. Would anyone hazard a guess as to how many soloists there are on this site? 1% would be 110 members. That seems low..? It would be interesting to know of those two votes for not recluse suffer from loneliness during a trip. Or, are they just angry at their tandem trans-bi companion.

I don't know that I've ever felt lonely on a solo trip, and that includes a couple at 30 and 42 days. I often feel lonely when I'm not on trips. It's the same when I travel by car on vacations; the only time I feel alone on those trips is if I stop in a city or somewhere people have gathered.

When I'm actually alone I'm in my own little bubble and doing things I enjoy. When I'm around lots of other people I'm reminded that nearly everyone is with someone else and that all the "fun activities" they're doing are just no fun without someone else. So I stay in my little bubble as much as I can and try to keep it from getting popped.

I don't often tandem with a group and my BH and I like to solo.. paired solo in camp. The solo boats allow us to explore where we each want to go.

In camp he reads alot. So its pretty much solo

I haven't been able to portage lately and had a knee replacement. Its not going too well so the bi solo trips will continue. I need some help

I was out early one morning paddling and I came across two older trippers on the lee side of a tarp. They invited me in for coffee and not wanting to have my bubble popped I politely declined. Thanks again for the offer.
