hoping the link works - its the only way I can seem to get the pic's into a trip report without spending a couple of hours resizing and reposting them

mileage given is only approximate based on my rough ticmarks on topo maps, and restarts at zero for the Peel

Link works. Great photos!

At work right now so no time to read the report but from the pictures I'm jealous!

Thanks for posting. Informative write-up and great pictures. Unfortunate for you to have such bad weather.

Read the report. I love your description of the braided channels of the Wind.

What an adventure with water levels! It must've been a pain in the arse dealing with but you woke up in time to avoid a disaster!

Thanks for the report.

actually, I didn't think my pictures were that good. hard to get good pictures when you are paddling solo - would have liked to have gotten a pic or two paddling through the braided sections and the two rapids but was kind of really busy at the time, so couldn't. my biggest disappointment picture wise was when I was taking pics of the Dall Sheep - I actually stopped directly across the river from them, maybe 20 meters away - wouldn't you just know that I'd already taken the final picture and missed the best opportunity - I still use a film camera.

Some tough conditions there. Nice work on getting through it with a level head. Beautiful scenery despite the clouds/fog/mist obscuring much of it. Thanks for taking the time to share.

The Wind is the most beautiful canoeing, camping and hiking river I've ever been on. I want to do this river again, maybe solo. A bucket list thing.
I could spend a month on this river just canoeing, hiking and relaxing.

Thanks Matt. I found your trip report already and it has definitely made us excited for our trip.

We are going almost exactly the same time in August as your trip. We are paddling to Taco Bar rather than all the way to Fort MacPherson and taking more days to allow for hiking opportunities, hopefully!

Cheers!
