Are there maps for LaVerendrye Reserve similar to the Chrismar maps? If so, where can I get them?

Has anyone paddled Lac Kipawa, which is across the Ontario border from North Bay, Ontario and Algonquin PP?

There is one maps here for the Upper Kipawa River:

If you are in Ottawa you can walk into World of Maps and pick up maps.

Wow that's a nice looking route! Just for kicks and giggles I think I'm going to enter it into google maps - will post when done.

How many days is that trip do you figure? And how much of the route is going to be white water?

I've paddled Lac Kipawa on three trips, two of which were to access Lac Dumoine for descents of the Dumoine R. One time I base-camped for a week with my son. I've always gone in at Kipawa Village. Each time I arranged parking and a shuttle (for pulling out at Driftwood PP across from the mouth of the Dumoine) through the owner of the general store there. Kipawa Lake gets lots of fisherman/motorboat traffic and very few paddlers.
That can be advantageous as there is little difficulty finding unoccupied camping sites on the lake. The last time I was there, 2010, I purchased in Kipawa Village a detailed Lac Kipawa map, wall-size, laminated, that showed most of the lake, depths, but not the established camp spots. Lac Kipawa is large and accessible like Lake Temagami, but less busy and less travelled by canoe groups. There's an active heronry there that I didn't visit, and there are ample camping sites, some excellent ones. I've used Hap Wilson's "Rivers of the Ottawa Valley" as a route guide for the Kipawa-Dumoine portion.

OK I transcribed that PDF into a google map - I think I got everything as accurate as I could. Looks like this would be pretty easy to run without any white water experience if that map is to be trusted. There are portages around all the rapids except one that I found (marked on my map). And even then not many rapids even when you look at google maps satellite view.

I probably should add the private cottages on there from the PDF map just in case someone needs to know in case of emergency.

EDIT : oh one other thing I could add it pinpoints for the beginning of the few portages that do not have marked rapids. That way you could set a GPS warning for when you are getting close.
