I have been looking for a foldable kayak/canoe that is light but also can hold a good amount of gear for camping trips. I have been looking around and I do like the Puffin Saranac and also the pakcanoe 150 because they can covert from a single to a double but also that’s not to expensive. Does anyone know any place that sells these or another type in Canada?

Pakboats had a Canadian dealer years ago but I think they almost entirely sell direct these days.

Klepper have a dealer in Calgary and Nova Scotia, pretty expensive boats!

There really aren't many alternatives. Folbot and Feathercraft are out of business, Pakboat is the best thing for tripping.

I bought my pakcanoe 165 direct from the company. I felt the 165 was a better choice if used solo or tandem for tripping. They have an extra kit that allows putting the front seat in the middle. I preferred putting the solo seat a little behind center to be paddling in a narrower part of the canoe.

Kero Boats in Toronto do demos. I bought the Pakboats Quest 155 from them last year. Great boat.

I found the puffin Saranac on eBay from a German store, it’s a lot cheaper than anywhere I’ve seen it but I’m not really sure about buying something from eBay. Any opinions

Nothing wrong with buying on eBay but check the shipping charges, could be quite expensive. You will almost certainly be paying GST/HST as well (no different then if you bought from a dealer here).

Not sure which listing you were looking at but the few I found on eBay Germany only ship within Germany & Austria. Also after factoring in the exchange rate the prices are almost exactly the same as buying from Pakboats in the USA.

What was the eBay Item Number?

That's just a spray cover!

Heads-up: Pakboat makes good boats, but the Puffin series are lighter-duty than some other Pakboat offerings. Know that they are more "kayak" than "canoe".
