Some may ask why we chose to go east over the complex of lakes ans not west via the outlet to salt via salt. Mud flats. I had enough problems making it to Aviat with a working compass. Not only are the mud flats surrounding the Sherman Basin outlet much more extensive, there were additional problems with an erratic magnetic compass and the currents in Simpson Strait. Better to muscle it on small waterways. In "Kabloona in the Yellow Kayak: One Woman's Journey Through the Northwest Passage" Victoria Jason talks about her mud problems and orientation in this area. Brave woman indeed! The consequences of our choice to follow.

This next video is not our going up Weir Creek to Weir Lake which we did with only a short carry around a weir which was used to facilitate spearing fish but after leaving Weir Lake heading upstream to the next lake. Enough water in the creek here also.

I’ve been enjoying all of your posts. Loved the Marker video.

This one did not load,
Days were getting shorter and ice forming in bucket. Early up and caught this scene just before river widened and entered Sherman Basin.
