I found this a very cute read, remember as you read this it is over 100 years old of camping and backwoods tips.
Title is "Camp and Trail" by Stewart Edward White, He was a very prolific author of his time and many of his other books are worth the read. (His book "the Forest" is Agawa Canyon, Lake Superior Park)
What is really fun is the pros and cons of different equipment of the time, including canoes.
Yes the language is dated but you can put into any of todays outdoor forums.

This is neat. It's interesting to read about the gear then, and reflect on how the gear has changed due to plastics and other "modern" materials.

I like the references to Abercrombie & Fitch being a source of camping supplies. Funny how that history isn't reflected in the LFO song "Summer Girls" that was so popular in the 1990's!
