The blogpost shared here is word for word copied from a book called Canoeing Ontario's Rivers by Ron and Janet Grand. Copyright 1985. Whether or not paddling that stretch of the river is still strongly discouraged....we'd have to check somewhere other than that piece of plagiarism.

Interestingly the Ontario Government in conjunction with Simcoe County is now promoting parts of the Black River as paddling destinations in a new travel push "PaddleLakeCountry.com.
In the printed materials there specific sections of the Black River -in Ramara however- described.

As R1984 said, not a great paddle. I like the Head River better.
