Hi Folks,

I made this map of the Noganosh route last month. Posting in case anyone would like to use it.

Feedback/edits/additions are welcome.

Cheers!

Jon

So, that being my first CCR post, I have discovered the lovely file size restrictions. Max 800 x 800 pixels and 3MB. :(

This was designed at poster size so the details are basically illegible in the copy posted here. If anyone wants to PM me your email I will send you a good resolution copy.

JK---do the same size limitations apply to pix posted in the gallery?

Are there unmaintained campsites at these two lakes?

I just created a Dropbox link for a higher resolution copy. Couldn't find a button to upload to it to the gallery...not big on it as a distribution medium based on what I'm seeing.
https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ecs0amwrcmab ... AVnEa?dl=0

When prompted to sign up, click "No thanks..." at the bottom of the dialogue box, then download in the top-right.

@Open_water, yep, all of these campsites are unmaintained, except by backcountry users of course. It's a non-operating provincial park, unfunded, and free to use.

Shhhhhhh! We like to let this one fly under the radar, lol!

Love the shot of the leaning tree. A waypoint landmark to be sure, especially when coming from the north.

PS. Nice job on the map.

Yes nice. Is this area frequented by motor boats?

Noganosh and Smoky will have a few on them from the lodge and hunt camps, but they're sizable lakes and in my experience it didn't detract from the sense of wilderness.

Noganosh has many bays to isolate yourself in, and then there are the connected lakes at the east end as well. If you look at the map closely you'll see few man-made structures on either lake--just a few.

For free camping within ~3 hours of Toronto, it's a great spot.

There are a few motorboats about ... 9.9's to 20hp. Mostly from Tornado's Fly In.
I've only been in late September and only saw 2 per trip, but I can't comment on peak summer months.

Open side: what is the parking situation? I am beginning to think about an ice out trip.

Shouldn't be any problem finding parking at Fleming's Landing in early spring. (BTW, the parking is free at either location.)

I don't do ice-out at Noganosh because bass, pike and walleye seasons aren't open yet so I head to Algonquin or HHWT for lakers and squaretails.

Great map, wish I had it the first time I went out there!

I would probably show the large Noganosh Hunt Camp (you probably don't want to re-scale the map though!), at the south tip of the lake. If you want to avoid generators, and ATV's, I would steer clear of there...

I've wanted to go there for years and did not know how to get into it, but now I do. thanks so much for taking the time to share. I look forward to fishing and camping there in the near future. Thanks, Buzz
