Post subject:  Blueberry Lake route (Temagami) - conditions update?

I'm planning a trip to Blueberry Lake July 19-22. The plan is to start from Snake Island/Cassels Lake, head straight to Blueberry, spend 2 nights there to be able to explore the trails and stuff, then head down to spend a third night on Sunrise Lake probably towards the south, and then return via Rabbit. Seems pretty leisurely distance-wise.

I'm just interested in any recent info about portage and hiking trail conditions, and campsite advice.

In particular, two years ago I was planning to do this loop but cancelled last minute, however in the planning of it I talked to a couple of local outfitters. I heard that there's a beaver dam flooding the middle of, I think it was, the Blueberry-Tucker portage. One said you can just paddle through the pond, the other recommended avoiding Tucker Lake altogether by instead heading from Blueberry down through Telford to Chick Lake, and from there following a logging road to Sunrise. Anyone have advice in that regard?

Dan, I'd suggest you put this question on Ottertooth forum.

The portages into Blueberry Lake from Cassels along with the Old Growth Forest trails are maintained mostly annually over the last 5 yrs or worst we missed one year. 2019 in the fall we did the Dalton, Tucker and Sunrise portages. We installed a new Thunder box on the site the eastern site on the back side of the FofT site.
Trippers please make sure you spend some money in Temagami as we need to support the local economy if we to have the beautiful places. Bringing everything from the centres does little for justifying protecting some special places.
