This is becoming my thing now: asking this forum for a route and site suggestion 1-3 weeks before my trip :/ But, c'est la vie. This time it's worse though: I'm trying to organize a trip for this coming long weekend, haha. Let's see if it can happen.

Most good places are booked solid. So here's what I'm looking for:
* 2-4 hours away from Toronto
* No more than 5 hours of paddling and portaging.
* An open site on a picturesque lake. Need some sun!
* I know beggars can't be choosers, but if they could, then ideally somewhere not too crowded, flat, with those big Canadian shield rocks that I can lay down in the afternoon/evening and enjoy the sun. And some on-demand free ice tea or lemonade service :p

If anyone can find something decent, I'll be grateful.

Check Radiant campsite availability, downstream from Brent... the port along the Pet tends to keep others out and the lake is scenic, good for basecamping with places nearby worth checking out. Also campsites along the Pet.

An Alternative to Brent access is the Kawayaymog access through South River.
A river paddle and a couple of short portages puts you on North Tea Lake with a number of sites. A further 500-600 m portage puts you on either Manitou or Biggar lake with many great campsites and some great sandy beaches too!

Lots of choice...

I did North Tea East a 2 years ago and for the same long weekend. It took us forever to find a camp site on the Saturday (about 2 hours, I would say, just going around the lake). And on the way back... it's already a big, windy lake but then we had the craziest storm (you can click on my name and read about it). It was insane, paddling through thundershowers on that lake, lol!
I may consider Manitou or Biggar, of if I'm going that far, then maybe Lorne. Too tired to get the map out, but this looks like a 20km trip. Might just be a bit much... but again, beggars can't be choosers?
