Heading up to WCPP this summer and would like to know if Hammocking is possible in the areas from Leano, Kilburn, Paul, and Mexican Hat lakes. I know there were some big fires recently so I don't know if it's hard finding suitable places to hang.

I would suggesting posing the question at Quiet Journey and BWCA under their WCPP topics.

Be aware that there has been considerable forest fire activity in WCPP. A tent will be more practical under the circumstances. If you’re forced to camp in a burn zone, a hammock would not be ideal.

Kevin Outdoors posted videos of a similar route last year. You could ask him on YouTube.

I would do it. Just bring a small tent and ccf pad just in case.

My family (5 of us plus dog) went for 12 days last summer....first two weeks of July. We stayed on 8 different lakes between Artery and Leano including Mexican Hat. My 18 year old son sleeps in a hammock and had no problem at every campsite. We travelled through many different stages of burn. Even on Dunston which was completely burnt in 2018. We also had two tents...no issues finding space for them either.

I say go for it! Have fun!!
