Hello paddling friends!

Open water season is approaching quickly and I'm sure everyone is getting excited (including myself) - which probably means trip planning!

My question is in regards to Lower Mace Lake, part of the Dunlop - Ten Mile - Mace Lakes loop just north of Elliot Lake.

From what I've read or can understand, there are multiple campsites on the lake. However, the only definitive map of the area that I know of is the Chrismar map, which shows only one site at the south end of the lake, on the tip of a long point that juts west from the east shoreline.

Can anyone else confirm additional mapping resources or who have groundtruthed the area and can provide more info? From satellite images, it appears as thought there are at least a few nice options (in particular along the west shoreline, about mid-lake), but not sure if these are established or not.

Thanks!

There are a few more.

A large group stayed somewhere around here when I was on Lower Mace.

This one on the island has been spoiled by decades-old garbage.

I stayed on this excellent site, though there was some old trash here under the leaf litter.

The site you mentioned on the point was occupied when I arrived (by a porcupine), but I preferred the one I got anyway.

I used Kevin Callan's Ontario's Lost Canoe Routes.

I hope you're spending plenty of time on Upper Mace though. IMO it's the highlight of the route. And if I were to do it again, I'd include the north part of the figure-eight up to Flack Lake, time permitting.

More on the route in this video if needed:
