Just finished the Chapleau-Nemegosenda loop. The Chapleau is very low, as expected. We waded many of the rapids. The portage from Leblanc to Emerald now runs into a sand quarry used for Highway 101 contruction. We had to bushwack the last half. The Leblanc to Emerald portage has been logged on top. More bushwacking through cut branches and head-high new growth. The mile-long Borden Lake (Heckler's Bay) to Mulligan's Bay portage is virtually gone from deadfall. We found the trailhead but it quickly disappeared in the forest. A local told us there is a newer, shorter, snowmobile trail used instead, but we did not find it. It is somewhere to the south west. We were told few paddlers finish the section from Westover to Mulligan's Bay. The whole thing took us just under seven days.
