Just kidding. I remember how twisty we had to leave part of that portage because of the blowdowns. Curious to see how you managed a soft landing on Rockcliff. Did you make it near the stream or that flat area north of that?

I would love to do that stretch again. That small lake between Colehouse and Rockcliff (I call it cadaver Lake) was one of the prettiest of the trip.

Glad to hear you had (another) successful trip.

Chuck

Flattish area just south of the cliff.

It occurred to me that while there wasnt any water then, there may have been earlier in the season. The water levels were pretty low.

Um, why the name Cadaver Lake? Curious minds are glad they didnt know when crossing that pond.

Kim,

I think Chuck may be referring to the fact that Phil and I were wakened by a moose in the middle of the night crossing the pond and exiting by Pat and Chucks tent. They didn't hear/see a thing...it was like they were dead.

No, no, no.......Phil had read a journal by either a fur trader or a missionary (I forget) who reported a trip member had died during the journey and was buried near the outflow of the stream. I think Phil came up with the name "Jewel Lake" to counter my "Cadaver Lake" moniker. His is prettier, mine unforgettable. :D
