Hello All!

Hope you've had a fabulous summer with lots of glorious tripping (and not over your feet, lol). Just finished Part 1 of this years trip report. We travelled to a couple places that almost nobody ever goes (Makobe Lake being one, the other you'll have to read to find out!) But first, a detour to paradise - a place that's well known (by temagami standards) and for good reason (so beautiful!) Check it out at:

Good story! Looking forward to the rest.
Jeff's Map for Temagami is available on line and shows the portages from Florence and down to the upper Yorston area accurately. That map generally has some accuracy problems, but the upper Yorston part is good.
A couple of the portages get harder to find and follow than the first long one though, so plan lots of time.
I guess you have learned to tie your canoe to a tree overnight?

Thanks Ipaddle!

Hi Shearjoy: yes we actually had Jeff's map with us and yes that portage is listed on it. What I meant by "no information online" was that we weren't able to find any mention of anyone actually using this portage, though one person hinted to it's existence and given your comment you may have used it? Obviously it was there at some point and someone used it but there's no mention of it online. So we weren't sure what to expect and it's safe to say that probably only a handful of people have used it in the past 10 years or more! Which makes it a super exciting place to explore.
And yes... tying the canoe at night ;D Each trip provides the opportunity to learn so much!
