Leopard, not sure what they are building there, other than I know river right will be floatable in an air mattress

Alan,The other factor in these man made weirs is the fact that they are perfect, natural obstacles have slight angles that allow things to flush out,This weir Has concrete walls at either end which help trap things in it.I have seen logs 12 inches in diameter with ends that are rounded off be forced under only to pop up 10-20 or more feet down stream only to be pulled back in for days

They have diverted all the water down river left now, flow is about half what it normally is at this time of year but these pics give us an idea of what it's going to look like, this is the big hole downstream

Interesting bit of trivia, I think. A lot of the stones used in the construction came from my Mom's cousin's place west of Maycroft, right on the Oldman River.

Bow waters canoe club will have a presentation by Howard Heffler(member who spearheaded this project) about the Harvie Passage project. The story begins in March 2000. Now, ten years later it is almost complete. With pictures and videos Howard will share the history, frustrations and successes of the re-construction of the weir. The primary focus will on the last year of construction and pictures of what it will look like when complete.

So, don’t forget the next meeting on December 1st
