My wife and I are planning to tackle the Montreal River this weekend. The stretch from Highway 2 to Highway 165. I checked the water level report on:

https://www.wsask.ca/Lakes-and-Rivers/Stream-Flows-and-Lake-Levels/Churchill-River-Watershed-/06CA001/

And it seems to be running at a decently high level. We have a Clipper Tripper 17.5" Kevlar canoe that we were planning to take. It will be the first time doing this for both of us, anyone have any extra info or insights on this short day trip route?

Thanks!!

Sorry for not responding sooner, I haven't been on the forum here in months. How was your journey down the Montreal? I trust that the water was at a good level for you.

A decade ago I wrote a post on my blog about running the Montreal and it gives a bit of perspective on the water levels. Too high and it buries the features. Too low and it gets bony. http://pawistik.blogspot.com/2009/08/mo ... ugust.html

Note that at that time we were early in a series of wet years. Since then it has been the norm for the river to be runnable throughout the summer and into September.

Cheers,
Bryan
