Finally got a good clear image from the MODIS satellite site of eastern Manitoba and although last thursday all the lakes were white and frozen, the image from Monday of this week shows black on most of the lakes and the big lake going punky.

Certainly the black could be clear sunken ice, but with how shallow Wallace, Siderock and Obukowin are, even that would disappear quick enough. Ice out this early in April is surely a good thing.

Notice the lack of snowpack anywhere? These double digit temps in the positives the past few weeks certainly took care of that, however, unless we get alot of rain, we could see more fire this year and backcountry travel bans like last August.
