View topic - Berens Lake, the settlement

I have seen references to a former settlement called Berens Lake, as at

Anyone know where the settlement was?
Of course places were often named for nearby features.
If it was indeed within walking distance of Berens Lake or the road, where?
PS: I know that Berens Lake lies in Ontario, but figured that this is the Forum in which to ask.

The first link tells us that Berens River townsite is/was located on the south shore of South Trout Lake.
North and South Trout Lakes are a a bit SW of Sandy Lake IR, (the nearest townsite in the area).

These lakes are close to the ON/MB border and a long way north of the actual Berens River and Berens Lake.
It seems there is an outpost fishing camp located on these lakes as well.

The effort for Manitoba is finished, except that some tidying up remains to be done (also for AB and SK). The biggies (ON and QC) will complete the 13.
