We are planning to do a combination of circuit 78/77 in August and we are wondering about road conditions for road 38 and road 383. We will be driving a Ford Focus. Is Baie Barker less prone to vandalism than going further in?

Last September I took 38 all the way to Lac Graham which is a whole lot further than Barker and it was just fine. Don't know about that short cut-off to Barker though. I think SergeB and Steve Boal were both out there last year as well and should have comments.

The only vandalism that I have even heard about was a couple of car break-ins at the Larouche campsite a few years back. It's right along-side highway 117 to Val d'Or and is in plain site of the highway. I've parked my sweetheart 4x4 almost everywhere in the Reserve and have had no problems whatsoever.

Don't forget to keep a log and bring it back to CCR with pictures.
Cheers and safe paddling.
Ted

The road is just fine for your car, but drive carefully. Did it last year (#77), but I had a Mazda Tribute fully loaded. The road deserves an Algonquin community, so they need basic maintenance. Anyway, always ask to the front desk about general conditions and regarding vandalism, just keep the car clean. Have a nice paddling and safe driving.
