Already planning Mid-August vacations with wife and 3 kids (9-6-3)...
Thinking of a Temiscouata-Restigouche-ChicChoc, 2 weeks loop...

would like to have a multiday canoeing trip...3min to 6 max days,Two canoes.

Kedgwick/Restigouche Rivers seems fine... easy rapids, easy access and shuttle, (AndréArpin). Also, Beach and Group campsites available, lot of user (so not alone for entire trip)...very scenic?

10-15km max per day . Will need to paddle alone for some hours each day...

What is the best option (in regard with overall interest (scenery, campsite quality (beaches, or well protected site if raining), ...

to run the Lower Kedgwick (from km32 to km0) 32Km
OR
the first section of the Restigouche (from km115 to km62) 53Km
Kedwick River putin to TwoBrooks Road takeout)

OR
to run only last section of the Restigouche from km62to km20 (42K)

in regards with:
http://192.77.51.2/~cleduc/Canot/01/RestigoucheLeduc2006.pdf

Or should we absolutly run the whole 3 section because would be so interesting???

Any other option?
Other put-in /takeout along the way?
Other intersting river mid august? for that kind of trip?
Thought about the Portneuf river on the North Shore too (Tadoussac-Forestvillea rea).
Patapédia river ?Matapédia river?

Thanks for your help
Tim

Tim,

Check out this website;

http://www.nanookofthenashwaak.com

It describes many canoe trips in NB. There is also a forum where you can get more specific information about the rivers that interest you.

Enjoy your trip!

Tom

Should contact Andre at http://www.canotrestigouche.ca/. Have paddled Kedgwick and the Restigouche a couple of times, nice trip but there are usually water concerns in the month of August..
Also these rivers are traditionally low during the midsummer months, We usually go late Sept or early Oct. Please feel free to contact me for campsites, ect. Andre will also be very helpful.

I see in a post you refer to the map i published using the URL
The target address has changed,
now 192.77.51.34, instead of 192.77.51.2
Or, you can access it thru www.cartespleinair.org
Wish you have a safe trip on the river !
