I think that would be fine. I keep my boats on tarped-over racks along a high wood fence. I've done this for 20 years with no damage to the boats during storage (except for squirrels who chewed up my outfitting one year). As long as they aren't exposed to UV, plastic or fibreglass boats should be ok. I have a couple of boats with wood trim and gunnels and they have also been ok stored this way.

Most large municipalities have by-laws that may prohibit adding onto a jointly owned fence. Even if your neighbour gave you permission and the structure fails, as most fences do, you may find that you are responsible for all replacement costs. Also fines may incur for not following outbuilding setback allowances.

Yeah, well if your rack knocked the fence over I guess you would have to replace it.

Otherwise, I really doubt that by-law enforcement would be at you for this. My rack is actually holding my fence up by having a set of parallel posts to hold the bars.

Do you send everything to Legal in Huntsville?

Sorry you're so angry Peter K. But it's not my fault I was responding to a post that is now edited.
