How'd I do for $500? I contacted Swift and they said it looks like their original design for this kayak circa 1993 / 1994 which is about where I pegged it when buying it. In extremely good shape no major cracks or damage. A few chips out of the gelcoat on the bow but easily fixable by myself. The storage covers are not shown in this photo but I have them. Came with the skirt and a kind of old school paddle as well, along with mounts for thule bars and I just happen to have thule bars :-)

I think it is a pretty good deal. Have not weighed it yet but it is fibreglass and I'd guess 30-35 lbs.

Circa 15 feet

If the bottom is as good as the top I would say you did well.
It looks like a well taken-care-of boat.

Yup bottom is definitely as good. Really well taken care of - can't wait to get it into the water in the spring. My first kayak.

Nice find! I think you are optimistic with your weight. My guess would be 45-50 pounds.

I had a Swift sea kayak of the same vintage. It was the bigger one..( Bering Sea?) I forget. It was one fast mf of a boat. But I traded it for a CD Caribou as I kept falling out of the Swift during roll practice. Clearly it wasnt the boats fault . It was just too big for me to wear properly.
I agree with MartinG estimate of 45 lbs.. Maybe 40
Get thee to refinishing the bottom and the deck. Some marine rubbing compound and a buffer pad and then a coat of marine wax will make a big difference in the appearance. And it gives you something to do during the winter. I use Meguires.

As soon as I figure out where my scale got to I will weigh it. It does seem a fair bit lighter than my 45 lb canoe.

Since I am storing it and all my canoes outside I don't think there will be any working on it over the winter.

It was a little shy at first but is already feeling right at home with the others :-)
