The Paddler’s Guide to Michigan. Jeff Counts. The Countryman Press (Woodstock, Vermont). (2011). He uses five regions to document 48 Michigan Water Trails, plus a sixth for the Apostle Islands in Wisconsin. I documented all 49.
In addition to what I provide below, Counts documents Accessibility, Skill level required, and Best times.
Aside. Some water trails are documented by both Hillstrom and Counts. One fine day, I’ll make my References the same for both.

Comments.
One of Michigan’s four Sturgeon Rivers. I refer the reader to my remarks between Hillstrom entries 30 and 31.
Given the Counts mention of the Lower Peninsula, Gaylord and Wolverine, this is not the Sturgeon River in the Upper Peninsula (that which flows from Keweenaw Bay of Lake Superior, past Houghton/Hancock, and on to the main body of the lake).
Consequence. The Counts map on p 46 is in error.

Subregion Lake Huron Area of Counts Region 2 (Northeast Lower Peninsula)
