I brought home a 1986 OT Canadienne. It has aluminum gunwales, and ash seat and thwarts. I need another canoe like a I need more yard work, but this was too good to pass up. It is the 16 foot model actually 15' 10" with a 32 inch beam. Everyone says they are fast and the sheer in the bow is noticeable. It has an arched bottom. I am thinking of using this as a solo boat on big rivers for me and my dog.

There is one crunch in the bow that needs to be repaired but other wise she is pretty good. I could not resist the $250 price. Has anyone here paddled one of these on rivers? I met the designer Ralph Frese in Chicago years ago. He passed in 2012. Thanks for your replies.

I got lucky. A guy had it at Lake Tahoe which is 1/2 hour from my house. There are many good lakes on the eastern side of Sierra Nevada Range. The rivers tend to be steep and rocky for canoes, but raftable.

Back in about 1995 I found a cedar and canvas OT Guide 18 in Reno. I still have it.
