Right now we are using our Eureka Mtn Pass XTC 3 for both canoe and car camping. We are considering a more roomy tent for car camping---something we can stand in to get changed etc We are considering (a) the Eureka Space Camp and (b) the Kelty Sequoia 4 person

comments? The Eureka is a bit cheaper so I assume that it MAY be of lower quality,

thx

I have no personal knowledge of these tents. I am in the same situation, in that I am looking for a car camping tent that will provide more comfort ie: not having to crawl out while front country camping.

The Eureka looks interesting, and at a fairish price. Where are they for sale in Ontario, I like to look at them? Also if you can wait until February, a Eureka dealer has big discounts at the Outdoor Adventure Show.

The best 4 person car camping tent I have seen at MEC is much more expensive being the Big Agnes Tensleep Station 4. It might go on clearance as that model has been discontinued at BA.

The Sail stores have nice big tent displays.

Sail often have some tents on half price this time of year as well.

If you would like to see a large selection of set up tents, Sail has a large selection of tents all set up to view. This includes a large selection for 'car' camping tents. The outdoors show Eureka dealer being referenced above is 'Outdoor Oriented' from St Catherines ON. They do not have tents set up there at their store but if you are in the area you can check them out.
Personally, Eureka is not the quality they used to be 20 yrs ago but they still build a fairly solid tent at a reasonable price. Kelty of which I own many products, I find to be of excellent quality and have never had an item fail on me ever and if you are in Canada or the US they will repair it no questions asked.
I am not into car camping and do not own any 'standing room' style tents so I cant rightfully recommend any, but if you want to see a large variety of makes and models for car camping Sail has the largest display I have ever seen (now that Tent City is closed.... due to the big box stores)

Ya I liked Tent City. I hope it was a well earned retirement than Darwinian death match.....

Thx a lot folks. I am leaning towards a Kelty. The Eureka that we have has had probs with the zips. Right now 1 of the zips on the fly does not close properly. I could do a Red Green and pinch the slider with pliers but ideally I should not need to. I have a small Kelty that has, admittedly, been used a lot less but it has had no probs at all'

It looks like a trip to Sail might be in my near future. I will need to phone to find out how long they leave the tents upon display. Presumably they get packed away for the winter.

I looked around a bit, including the Kelty site, and could not see any reference to a canadian -- preferably an Ontarian -- retail store. Certainly the Keltys look good, but often a hands-on inspection reveals things -- pros and/or cons -- that would affect my decision to purchase. Does anyone have knowledge of canadian retailers?

Another one that you should take a look at is Marmot's Halo.
Nice looking tent...available in different sizes.
