You can make a meal, say your favorite sphagetti sauce or stew and dehydrate it.

Or you can just dehydrate ingredients..usually all of them do not need it..

For example you can make a shepherds pie out of instant mashed potatos, dehydrated corn, dehydrated hamburg, Vegetable soup mix and brown gravy mix.

Only the corn and the meat needs to go in the dehydrator.

And this one needs only one ingredient dehydrated: Smoked Salmon, linguini, creamy pesto sauce(look in the gravy section) dehydrated peas, parmesan cheese.

You had right answers all around..Best to go to an outdoor store and look at which cookbook suits you best. There should be several.
