Do you have it straight for snack or do you mix with other things?

I would love to hear of some ideas as I have 4Lbs of beef drying out as we speak.

Its got garlic and cayenne and I have several recipes for homemade.. I like it best by itself.

Otherwise you miss the nuances..

You did marinate the beef, no?

I am waiting for the artful jerky shot.. If anyone can do it you can

Well the one i make is marinated and all and tastes great... but I thought there are other ways of eating it then just straight hehe. Will it worked chopped into a pasta dish or something like this or will it not taste that good heated?

Gee, our jerky eating instructions don't usually go beyond "Chew first then swallow"

mmmmmmmmmmmmm jerky

I love marinating the meat in teriyaki sauce. Or a nice peppery marinade with a drop of liquid smoke and lots of garlic mmmm

You can use any liquid seasonings as long as none have oil in them.

Chew the flavor right outta it. Great pick-me-up on the trail.

Hi Canoeheadted's wife here - had to respond since we have an all time favourite "staple" for trips with beef jerky.

We usually use a teriyaki marinade (only light on the ginger) & mix together:
- Beef jerky (cut into pieces at home with a kitchen scissor or crudely ripped into pieces in the bush)
- one pkg Lipton Sidedish Creamy Bacon Carbonara - powered milk & margarine (according to pkg directions)
- dehydrated corn

Usually in the early afternoon we start "rehydrating" the jerky & the corn (in separate baggies) then add into the pasta when you're cooking it for dinner.
