What I have done with the 60 litre barrel is take cardboard and trim it to make a divider that fits inside the barrel to separate it into three compartments. Then I separate the foods into whatever I want. Usually one for brekky with the coffee and such and another for all the spices and utensils and such. I love the bag idea with all the compartments. Maybe one of the ones that goes on the back of a car seat ??? I personally have gone away from dehydrating for shorter trips up to a week now. I take potatoes, carrots, onions with me and cook fresh. Flour for bannock too. I do tend to use a lot of jerky though. And dried hamburger meat for stews and chili. The dried meat and fresh veggies are a nice touch. Gravy mixes help a lot too. Nothing like fried tatoes and pickerel for supper. One thing I WOULD like to find is a utensil roll to keep them all handy and easy to access. ...Christie |

Quote: http://alderstream.wcha.org/camp.html Looks pretty neat, practical and the price is right. But in my case, I have a solution already that works for my set-up. I use a zipped freezer bag (large) to hold the utensils - it's see-thru, washable, holds the stuff for up to six people and "rolls" to be as small as possible. No heavy wear on the bag as I have hardly any metal in there. Spoons etc are plastic, and depending who's coming along, chop sticks replace forks and knives. |

And it could be customized. http://www.allfreecrafts.com/sewing/cutlery-roll.shtml http://tipnut.com/crayon-roll-tutorials/ |

My SIL made us one with a tea towel like in Barbara's link 7 years ago. It is starting to get thin, and we plan to make another soon. They work great. |
