We use a regular bottle of mayo and it last fine for a week. Though my wife won't let it back in the house upon our return.

On similar topics, cream cheese keeps too, but we found it partially separates.

Whipping cream we froze initially, and it came out like cottage cheese when it thawed. But it tasted fine and worked in the recipe.

Regarding Mayo going bad, years ago I after noting "Big Squeeze Mayo" bottles left on restaurant tables were not marked "Refrigerate after opening" I contacted both Kraft and Hellman's. Both indicated that the labels indicating products should be refrigerated are for taste quality only and are not at all related to safety. Apparently, commercial products these days do not contain ingredients that may have been prone to spoilage a few decades ago.

In light of this, for the better part of the last decade, our group has just taken a squeeze bottle which we put inside a Ziploc and, other than not leaving it out in direct sun, we don't do anything special.

A few years ago Baron bought a large quantity of mayo packs but during the interval between the time these packets were purchased and our second trip, one year later, the packets ballooned up and I told my friend that if he expected me to use the contents from those "fattened" packets he was mistaken.

I think Baron opened one up and took a whiff, then dumped the packets.

Most grocery stores that have a Deli will have mayo packets that they will give or sell to you. They do have expiration dates, not on the packet, but on the box they come in.
