I was about to make an order with Packit Gourmet and noticed a warning they have regarding the varying regulations countries have for import of food items. Does anyone have experience ordering form them and shipping to Canada?

No experience but would be nice if they branched out to Canada...they sound great!

They've advised they haven't had any returned shipments from Canada so I placed an order. Looking forward to trying it out.

The main issue with food over the border are for things shipped INTO the USA (fallout from 9/11).

Going the other way (US to CA) the big issue for US manufacturers are the requirements for bilingual and metric packaging, smaller companies don't want to spend what is required. These requirements don't apply to personal imports.

They sell directly from their site, nowhere else.

Just a little update that there was no issue with the order clearing through customs. I am happy to report that the meals from Packit Gourmet were fantastic. Honestly the best freeze dried I have had and large portions compared to the standard available brands. On the dessert side we found them a bit too sweet, that is except for "Mom's Banana Pudding" which had us scrapping the bag. 4 people on a 5 day hike, never had the same thing twice so got to experience a variety of options. Their cold prep lunch meals were super convenient. Prep them up in the morning, toss them in your pack and no work come lunch. I wish there was a Canadian retailer as the shipping really gets you but I will definitely be ordering again.

I also looked into ordering their products to try out but the shipping worked out to about 30% more on the price................thats crazy. I contacted them and they still seem to be a "mom and pop" shop still so they don't offer deals on shipping.
too bad, losing a lot in the Canadian market
