Those of us who are planning on attending this trip extend a friendly invitation to anyone else who might be interested to join us. You don't have to know anyone, and you don't have to be an experienced winter camper. If you're at all interested, please feel free to join us!
The proposed itinerary is as follows - we'll be heading north on the train out of Sudbury on Thursday Feb 27 and getting dropped off in the middle of nowhere (in the Spanish River watershed). We'll be returning on the train on Sunday Mar 2. Four days, three nights.
Everyone supplies their own gear and food, but it seems that there will be some sharing of tents. A few people will be bringing up canvas or nylon prospector (wall tent) style accommodation complete with portable wood stoves. How decadent.
We'll be base camping. Setting up and staying put, with some expeditions on snowshoe and cross country skis. Some are planning on ice fishing. Others are planning on sitting around a warm fire, drinking tea and telling lies. No schedule, no planned activities, no pressure!
If you're interested in this trip and would like to be part of the planning forum, email me including your username (not password) and I'll add you to the permission list for the planning forum (see the bottom of the main forum page).
