Hi all winter campers . Went in this afternoon with Carol and our young grand daughter to check the condition of the campsite . It is in very good shape and I also took the pruning sheers cutting any incroaching brush from along the trail in . Thought I would post this now in case anyone needs to arrange vacation time for this . We will be going in at the same place as last year at about kilometer 74.5 on Hyw. 144 north of Sudbury . There is a parking lot on the left (west) side of the road that we get the trapper to plow for us . Any one that is interested please reply here or send me a Private message . Also any questions or concerns please ask . Any one new to winter camping ,this is a very good place to try it out and see many different setups . If you are cold tenting it there is always a warm tent if you get chilled . Having said that you are responsible for your own safety and outfitting . There are plenty of experienced campers to give advice if required . Hope to see all the regulars as well as some new campers . I'm sure you will enjoy it as much as I do . there is a 10 dollar a vehical charge for parking to pay for the plowing . See you in Feb. scouter Joe ![]() |

Hey Good to hear. I do plan to go this year. Looking forward to seeing the many people I met last year. Last years was my first outing with a group of winter campers and I am hooked. If you need an extra pair of hands I can surely pile wood on tent sites again! I will however note I will not help wash dishes in particular coffee cups for "The Dog Pound"! |

hi prospector16 I was a scout leader quite a while back and we took the scouts out and usually built quinzees to sleep in . We also did different types of shelters . No I do not have the actual coordinate . Hope fully one of the others will and will chime in . Are you a prospector ? scouter Joe |

I am not a prospector but I do own 4 x 16 foot prospector canoes - each from a different manufacturer. ![]() I'm in Ottawa and would really like to make it up to this event. Not sure I'll be able to but I'm definitely going to try. |

Good job on the igloo . Scouts seem to be having a good time . I tried a couple of times to make an igloo with less than satisfactory results till I saw picture of one and noticed that the blocks went around in a spiral . After that I had much better results . I would go out the day before and pack the snow with my snowshoes on and let it freeze over night . Then cut out the blocks with an old hand saw . Worked pretty good . Still a lot of work though . We made one at deep freeze one year . I'll let the camper who did this to tell you about it . scouter Joe |

I picked up one of these last winter but still have not used it for a full igloo. Had it out practicing with it and it works well http://www.grandshelters.com/icebox.html |
