The current plight of the Costa Concordia recalls a comment made by Winston Churchill.
After his retirement he was cruising the Mediterranean on an Italian cruise liner and some Italian journalists asked why an ex British Prime Minister should choose an Italian ship.
"There are three things I like about being on an Italian cruise ship" said Churchill. "First, their cuisine is unsurpassed. Second their service is superb. And then, in time of emergency, there is none of this nonsense about women and children first."

Motor boats off the coast of Maine are mainly doing donuts. Nothing new here Erhard except they are working and not trying to impress.

Lobstermen always circle when tending their lines of pots. And you may note always one way to starboard. And they are not watching for paddlecraft. If you see a donut maker stay away.

Interesting - why do they do that?

the winch is on the starboard. Most lobster boats per se do not have a cabin wall on the starboard.

Haul out is always over starboard.

Just a factoid if you ever go canoeing among lobster craft and are trying to make sense of where they might go next. At first glance their movements seem erratic but if you find the color of the buoy they haul (a buoy of the same color must be on top of the cabin by law) and try to find the corresponding buoys in the water their movements might make SOME sense.

OK - I can picture it. Interesting.
Sounds like the dance that honey bees do after finding a decent pot of nectar...
