Post subject:  Any good Podcast Recommendations?

Searching the forums here, I couldn't find a discussion about wilderness-oriented or canoe-oriented podcasts.

Does anyone have any good podcast recommendations? (Particularly to do with wilderness/canoeing/hiking - but could be about anything I guess...)

I'll start.

One that I've listened to this year and have liked is all about long-distance trail hiking. Mostly it is audio from people who hiked the Pacific Crest Trail or the Appalachian Trail this past summer. It's called "Sounds of the Trail"

Good idea...thought I'd give the link:

"Sounds of the Trail" is podcasting again this year.

Some might also be interested in this episode of "On Point," where Tom Ashbrook interviews a woman who has walked/hiked 27,000 miles solo over the past 20-years-or-so. There is a fair bit of discussion about her walking from Siberia to Australia most recently (podcast or streaming):

I just started another thread on this.
Should have searched first - rookie mistake.

I haven't found any either on the outdoors

A couple I really like from a perspective of a veteran on leadership and motivation is

1) "jody mitic podcast" - fairly new but is Canadian. A sniper in Afganistan, author, Ottawa councillor and Amazing Race Canada participant
2) "Jocko podcast" - navy seal commander in the Iraqi war, author, MMA fighter

Some CCR folk might find this episode of Transistor interesting.

It discusses Polynesian Wayfinding - navigating without any instruments. It describes using your hand as a kind of sextant with the stars. It also discusses The Worldwide Voyage, where a very large Polynesian "canoe" is travelling around the world.

It's about 10 minutes long:

"Sounds of the Trail" is still available in archive for anyone who might be interested in listening to the two seasons that were produced: http://www.soundsofthetrail.com/?page_id=68.

"Paddling Adventures Radio" is another podcast that is in production and seems to produce items about once a week. It is created by an Ontario crew: http://paddlingadventuresradio.com/

Some recent discussions were about stick stoves, paddling over scuba divers near Tobermory, and some regular interviews with a crew paddling the Yukon River this summer.

These podcasts might be interesting to listen to on long drives to your own paddling adventures!

I just finished listening to the podcast Dirtbag Diaries. Not really paddling related, but excellent none the less.

Paul Kirtley, a bushcraft instructor from the UK, has two good podcast series that cover a wide range of outdoor topics:
