Hey all,

there is a new guide for canoeing in Alaska: Paddling Alaska by Dan Maclean, Falcon Guide, ISBN 978-0-7627-4229-5, US $ 18.95, CAN $ 22.95. Great description on canoeing the Anchorage Area, Matanuska and Susitna Valley, Kenai Peninsula, Northern and Southern Interior. Lots of information and overview maps for planning a trip there.

Dan Maclean is also the author of Paddling the Yukon River and Its Tributaries, ISBN 978-1-5943-3027-8, for canoeing the whole Yukon River, the Tanana, Porcupine, Koyukuk and Kuskokwim Rivers. I used this guide for canoeing the Yukon River to the Bearing Sea without getting lost once - which is kind of unusual for me  . There exists a German translation for this guide which you can purchase at http://www.kanuverlag.de/Yukon_Maclean/yukon_maclean.html.
