Thanks for the tip!
I posted a reference to the book at

under Mackenzie River Information.
Do you have the publisher’s name and location? I couldn’t find either online.

Not the same book but i recently picked up this one from Chapters. Its actually written like a travel guide. About 95% of it is about the water route of the MacKenzie river part of the trans Canada trail.
Full colour. Maps, pictures, histroy, points of interest, available services along the way etc

hopefully I'll put it to use someday

Allan, the book is self published by Michelle Swallow, Yellowknife, NWT and printed and bound in Canada by Friesens, Altona, Manitoba.

Some casual googling said it was available from www.canoenorth.ca.

Most self published books are disappointing, but this is a professional job.
The author says that "It took a lot of help from a lot of friends to write about this river" over the 5 years of writing and all this labor shows. I saw a copy in Overlander Sports in Yellowknife and just had to buy it.

Thanks also to mark m for bringing Bastedo's book to my attention.

Douglas
The book is loaded with quotations by Alexander Mackenzie,
