I see a new copy of a classic work of canoeing literature is just back in print by a publisher in Ottawa:
"Sleeping Island" by P.G. Downes is a must-read for anyone interested in exploring the subarctic.

Here is an online review:

I checked availability on Amazon and here's what I found. It seems there are 2 ed., one in 2004 and one in 2006. Seems a bit odd to me.

Sleeping Island: A Journey to the Edge of the Barrens (Second Edition) by Prentice G Downes and Robert Cockburn (Mar 1, 2006)
Formats
Paperback
$19.95
2.
Sleeping Island: The Story of One Man's Travels in the Great Barren Lands of the Canadian North (First Edition) by Prentice G Downes and Robert Cockburn (Dec 1, 2004)
Formats
Paperback

$18.99

I think it was first published in 1943 by Coward and McCann
