Many of you have read Dangerous Waters.

George Luste reminded me a month ago that he wrote two other books re the same area in northern BC. I was interested as this summer we spent some time in the Finlay /Stikine River area and Telegraph Creek just stunned me.

I am now reading Trail to the Interior and Finlay's River

I would like to find a copy of David Finch's book R. M. Patterson : A Life of Great Adventure

Dangerous River?

I think you will enjoy Finlay's River and Trail to the Interior. I would also recommend his other volumes, The Buffalo Head and Far Pastures. Patterson is a great storyteller.

Those who have read the Dangerous River would enjoy the edited (by Richard Davis) edition of his diary from that trip:

http://www.amazon.ca/Nahanni-Journals-R ... 27&sr=1-17

It makes for an interesting comparison with the book - and includes the true story of how he reached Virginia Falls helped by Faille, not solo as in the book.

I see some copies of Finch's book on Amazon.

Thanks for the links for further study jmc. I was not aware of The Buffalo Head and Far Pastures.

Its funny how I am inspired once I travel in the region. These pix are of the road that parallels the Stikine Canyon from Dease Lake to Telegraph Creek. I cowered a bit and insisted on the wheel on the return trip.

The apparantly abandoned cabin with the sat dish just floored me.
