Saw a mention of Roger in the last issue of Rapid. Have heard good tales from Roger on trips or at the canoe club about the the "early years" of MW (and missed some too, as I can never keep up with him! even in his senior years he was always first over the portage or the first up to silver peak), and thought this might be worth a read:

Found this on the Whitewater Ontario site:

Whitewater Ontario presents ‘Building a River…Following a Dream: The Roger Parsons Story’

Published on Friday, 23 August 2013 16:06

Thanks to a generous donation from the St Catherines Whitewater Park founders, Whitewater Ontario has been able to digitise a piece of history into a beautifully bound and printed limited edition book.

Originally in scrapbook form, this book documents the building and creation of the Minden Whitewater Preserve, the Roger Parson’s Centre, changes to the river and some of the inaugural events which took place on the Gull River.

We have 500 copies of the book, some of which we will be distributing to local libraries, tourism boards and schools in the Gull River area as well as other locations across Ontario. Books are also available to our members at very special price of $10, which INCLUDES the shipping cost within Ontario. To get your copy, contact Donna at info@whitewaterontario.ca or call the WO office. Payments can be made by cheque or credit card. If you prefer to pick up a copy at an event (e.g. King of Clubs, Mackfest) let the office know and we will do what we can to get one to you.

These books are limited edition and will be distributed on a first come, first served basis. Don’t miss this opportunity to get your piece of paddling history!

anyone seen a copy? Read it?
