View topic - First Solo trip

The load I had was not that heavy(not to light jays standards)The pack was under 40lbs and the cedar strip Osprey is under 50lbs .. a load that I can handle with eaze.
I here you all with double carries when the loads get up their.
I took note of things I did not use and won't take next time and also the things that I could lighten.More things to buy

Great canoe!! I built a prospector from Ted Moores book in 1989. I would like to try a solo. Do you still have the strongback??

Sounds like an amazing trip. I have been thinking about a solo trip lately. I have only gone on a couple canoe trips in Algonquin park with more experienced trippers. I was thinking about going back again by myself in late august before school starts. Is going on a solo trip a bad idea unless you have a few years experience? I would really like to try it, but I'm a little nervous too. Thanks for your thoughts.

Dave, thanks for the response. I too have built a Kayak - a Chesapeak 17 -plans from Lightcraft. A stitch and tape boat - way eaisier to build than woodstrip-epoxy.
Would it be possible to borrow the strongback this winter?

I would like to say yes but I want to keep my the option of builing something this winter also.I like to keep busy doing something, be it home renos or building something,so if the renos are out of the question I may be building another boat
