Really??

Reading a canoeing FB page it seems a lot of people do when soloing in a canoe! Bad idea!! Rocks sink. If you really need ballast a big chunk of wood, if you can find one, is ideal IMO. Failing that, why not fill a container with water, leaving no room for sloshing.

I just use a dry bag filled with water... works great, easy to carry (just dump it out)

I just take the food barrel....keeps the camp clean, adds weight to the stern (now bow when paddling solo)
